Hello! I’m Louise, thank-you for stopping by my recipe website! My love of cooking and baking goes back to high school. One of my firm favourites back then (way back then!) were meringues. Sometimes I used to make the mixture just to eat the mixture! Hah hah, don’t judge me, I know you’ve done it too! Maybe not with meringue mixture but definitely with a cookie mixture, right?! Yah, I knew it.

I love simplicity and hence the reason for this recipe blog. So often I come across recipes, mainly in glossy magazines, that seem so unnecessarily complicated. Maybe it’s an editorial thing, I’m not sure, but I much prefer recipes that are kind of casual – if that’s even a way to describe recipes? (well now it is).
I try alternate between new sweet and savoury dishes. You’ll find all the classics on here too like scones, pancakes, cottage pie, chicken a la king etc. If you would like to see a recipe on the site that I don’t have, please do let me know. Even better, if you have any make-you-weak-at-the-knees recipes that you think I absolutely must have, please send them in and I will happily credit you for the recipe. I’m a mom to 3 little boys and I run my own business so I relate well (very well) to those who have little time at the end of the day to prepare a meal. A meal in under 30 minutes, or even better, 20 minutes, is what I am striving for here!! My main business is selling printable craft/design media – Have you looked at my shop – Sunshine Parties?? You purchase a file, download it, edit it and print it! You’ll also find recipes there which are mainly party/entertaining related although this section is rather new.
I do however, try and cook/bake something new at least once a week (or 2 weeks or 2 months, you know sometimes I am inconsistent!) to add to the website – it is of course my little baby and I love adding to the collection of tried-and-tested recipes.
I LOVE hearing from you guys too, I love your comments and emails, I love your emails! I never get tired of those and your stories and feedback and it’s just always lovely to hear from you. If you have questions about the recipes, you can ask me too! I’m happy to try and answer them. I did study Food Science at varsity so I can, to some degree, answer your technical baking questions. I do quite a lot of research online about what people are searching for but I also use Pinterest a lot. I experiment with recipes too – delete, add, summarise ingredients and methods and sometimes I create recipes from scratch. You can follow me on Pinterest here
How do I modify recipes?
Where I can, I always try and reduce the amount of sugar in a recipe and simplify them to as few steps and ingredients as possible. I also try and substitute ingredients that I know would be difficult to find locally – Ingredients should be found easily at your local grocer (most of the time anyway) . Not all the recipes are quick BUT they are all intended to be easy!!
