Healthy Baked Trout Fillet Recipe with Lemon Butter Garlic Sauce

Description

This is an easy, healthy recipe for baked trout (or salmon) fillets. The lemon butter garlic sauce is prepared very quickly and the fish only take 12-15 minutes to cook. Try this baked trout recipe for a flaky, tender texture and incredible flavours.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium to large fillet of trout or salmon
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (or  1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350F).
  2. Place the Trout fillet (or Salmon) on a baking tray.
  3. In a glass jug or microwaveable bowl, melt the butter in the microwave.
Add the lemon juice, parsley, dill, garlic, a pinch of salt and a little freshly cracked black pepper to the melted butter. Stir to combine.
  4. Using a fork, poke a few holes along the length of the fillet and then pour the sauce over the fillet. Some of the sauce will run off – you can try and collect the excess sauce and spoon over the fillet again. The little holes you made with the fork will help absorb the sauce.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the fish has cooked through (the fish should be a solid pink and not translucent). Be careful not to overcook.
  6. Garnish with a slice of lemon and extra parsley. Serve with rice, mashed potato or baked potatoes.
