Food Amount Substitute
Sage
1 tsp Chicken seasoning, marjoram, or rosemary
Salt, seasoned
4 tsp 2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sage, 1/2 tsp parsley flakes, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp marjoram, 1/4 tsp paprika
Salami
1 slice 1 slice Pepperoni
Sesame Oil
1 tbsp 1 1/2 tsp sesame seeds sautéed in 1/2 tsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp 1 tbsp finely chopped blanched almonds

½ cup ½ cup Spring onions (white part only) OR ½ cup onions (grated) with 1ml crushed garlic

1 cup 1 cup plain full cream yoghurt plus 3 tbsp melted butter OR 3/4 cup buttermilk plus 1/4 cup oil OR 3/4 cup milk, 3/4 tsp lemon juice and 1/3 cup butter or margarine OR 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 cup of plain yoghurt.

1 cup 3/4 cup buttermilk plus 1/3 cup butter OR 1 cup plain yoghurt plus 1 tsp baking soda

1 1/4 cups 1 cup cottage cheese, 1/4 cup plain yogurt or buttermilk (blend in processor) OR 1 cup cottage cheese, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1/4 cup milk or water, 1/8 tsp salt (blend in processor

1 cup 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1 tbsp molasses or dark corn syrup
Sugar, icing (confectioners’ or powdered)
1 cup 3/4 cup castor sugar OR 1 cup castor sugar and 1 tsp of corn flour finely ground in blender.

1 1/2 tsp granulated sugar

1 cup 2 cups icing/powdered sugar OR 3/4 cup honey (reduce liquid in recipe by 1/4 cup)
