Hello! I’m Louise, thank-you for stopping by my recipe website! It is a digital collection of my favourite recipes, many of them (especially the baking ones) are family recipes that have been passed down through generations.
You could well assume that because I have a recipe blog, that I absolutely LOVE cooking. Nope. nooooo. Love is a strong word you know. I would say instead, that I enjoy cooking occasionally. I enjoy a tasty meal, I enjoy easy recipes with simple ingredient lists. I really LOVE it when my kids eat the food I make – that is when I really pull out the LOVE word and can say I enjoy creating and making a meal. I love cooking with others. I love eating a meal with my family. But every day come 5pm I can’t say that I throw the confetti in the air and shout out YAY YIPPEE it’s time to make dinner. If however, I am feeling all Mrs Organised, and get dinner done and in the warmer by 3.30pm, I am definitely shouting YIPPEE YAY look at moi.
I baked a lot in high school. One of my firm favourites back then (way back then!) were meringues. Sometimes I used to make the mixture just to eat the mixture! Terrible I know, don’t judge me, I know you’ve done it too! Maybe not with meringue mixture but definitely with a cookie mixture, right?! Yah, I knew it.
Speaking of cookie mixtures, you must absolutely try this Choc Chip Cookie Recipe
I love simplicity and hence the reason for this recipe blog. So often I come across recipes, mainly in glossy magazines, that seem so unnecessarily complicated. Maybe it’s an editorial thing, I’m not sure, but I much prefer recipes that are kind of casual and fuss-free.
I try add one new recipe a month – not a lot but one recipe post takes several hours to put together once it has been tested, photographed, edited, written and optimised, so again, it’s a time thing. You’ll find all the classics on here too like scones, pancakes, cottage pie, chicken a la king etc. If you would like to see a recipe on the site that I don’t have, please do let me know. Even better, if you have any make-you-weak-at-the-knees recipes that you think I absolutely must have, please send them in and I will happily credit you for the recipe.
I’m a mom to 3 boys and I run my own business so I relate well (very well) to those who have little time at the end of the day to prepare a meal. A meal in under 30 minutes, or even better, 20 minutes, is what I am striving for here!! I have an Honours Degree in Dietetics although my main business is selling digital and printable craft, design and educational media (From a career in nutrition to design – an interesting story in itself!)
P.S Have you looked at my shop – Sunshine Parties?? You purchase a file, download it, edit it and print it! You’ll also find recipes there which are mainly party/entertaining related although this section is rather new.
I LOVE hearing from you guys too, I love your comments and emails, I love your emails! I never get tired of those and your stories and feedback and it’s just always lovely to hear from you. If you have questions about the recipes, you can ask me too! I’m happy to try and answer them. I did study Food Science at varsity so I can, to some degree, answer your technical baking questions. Fire away!
If so, you can “like” my Facebook page and join over 300 000 other followers – just click this link and then click the “like” button..

I do quite a lot of research online about what people are searching for but I also use Pinterest a lot. I experiment with recipes too – delete, add, summarise ingredients and methods and sometimes I create recipes from scratch. You can follow me on Pinterest here
How do I modify recipes?
Where I can, I always try and reduce the amount of sugar in a recipe and simplify them to as few steps and ingredients as possible. I also try and substitute ingredients that I know would be difficult to find locally – Ingredients should be found easily at your local grocer (most of the time anyway) . Not all the recipes are quick BUT they are all intended to be easy!!
Yes, of course you can! All I ask is that if you do use one of my photos or recipes, please use a “follow” link back to me, the URL is http://www.JustEasyRecipes.co.za
