Tall Horse Wines: Wild With Flavour

November 23, 2009 by Louise

The Tall Horse Wines are wild with flavour! They are of international standards and enjoyed all over the world. Fruit-driven, affordable, distinctly fresh and deliciously drinkable are without doubt words best describing Tall Horse Wines – which are becoming more and more popular among South Africans as well.

The story behind the wines:
Jaco Potgieter is a true South African winemaker. Born and bred in the wine country of the Western Cape, he lives and breathes his vineyards and is constantly preoccupied with ways to make better bolder truly South African wines. Jaco lives in Wellington with his wife and children and on any given day you will catch him roving around the diverse geographical wine regions in search of the perfect grapes for his journey of Tall Horse Wines.

The range consists of:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Chardonnay
  • Merlot
  • Pinotage
  • Pinotage Rosã
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Shiraz

Our personal favourite has to be the Merlot – which has the blue giraffe on it. It’s easy-drinking and goes with just about everything – especially pasta, pizza, red meat and chocolate!

Giraffe facts:

  • A giraffe weighs an average of 1270 kg.
  • It’s neck is long but only has 7 vertebrae – which is the same as humans.
  • Giraffes come in nine different patterns ranging from blonde to brown to quite red.
  • Baby giraffe fall six feet when they are born without getting hurt, and can walk within 15 minutes of birth.

Tall Horse wines are now migrating to supermarkets shelves in France, which indicates that they are indeed of excellent quality.
