A quick and easy weeknight meal that the whole family will enjoy. This recipe for Creamy Chicken in White Wine sauce comes together in 20 minutes and uses basic pantry staple ingredients. Chicken cutlets are dusted in garlic powder and flour and fried in butter before being coated in a creamy white wine sauce infused with Thyme, Rosemary and Parsley.

Who doesn’t want a 20-minute dinner recipe? And a sauce with white wine in it? It’s such an easy sauce and an easy meal to put together that it makes for the perfect weeknight dinner when you don’t have time but are really hungry for something Nom noms!
I like to serve this with rice or pasta, because they are quick! Of course some crispy roast potatoes would go down well too but that would take this out of the 20-minute meal category!! Don’t forget the veggies you guys. We need something bright and cheery on the side. How about grilled baby marrows or minty peas? More colour? Grilled red and yellow peppers or even some patty pans? How about steamed corn on the cob?
So how do you make Creamy Chicken in White Wine Sauce:
You start off by coating the chicken in garlic powder, onion powder and a light dusting of flour so it’s nicely covered. Remember to slice the chicken in half across the middle so you have lovely thin cutlets.
Next, heat up some butter and olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken for a few minutes on each side until golden. Take it out and set aside.
In the same pan, pour in the white wine and chicken stock, scrape up all the tasty bits stuck to the bottom, and let it bubble and reduce a little. You will then stir in the dried herbs, and the cream. Pop the chicken back in, let it all mingle for a few minutes, and season to taste. Yummy!!!
Serve with mashed potatoes, crispy roast potatoes, rice or even your favourite pasta! Sprinkle with fresh parsley, and add your favourite veggies on the side.
Want another 20-minute meal?
If you love a quick and easy meal, you will absolutely LOVE this creamy tomato and bacon pasta which is my other go-to 20-minute meal when we are hangry but low on time or cooking enthusiasm.

Creamy Chicken in White Wine Sauce
Ingredients
- 3–4 chicken breasts, cut in half horizontally to create 6-8 thinner cutlets.
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
- ½ cup dry white wine (I used Cabernet sauvignon)
- ½ cup chicken stock
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cream
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped, for garnishing (optional)
Instructions
- Dust the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder and flour, making sure to coat all sides evenly.
- In a medium-sized frying pan, over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once the oil is simmering, add the chicken breasts, sprinkle with black pepper and cook for 4-5 minutes, turning over halfway through. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the white wine, chicken stock and salt and stir to combine making sure to also scrape up (deglaze) any flavoursome chicken bits from the bottom of the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes and allow the liquid to reduce by a third.
- Add the herbs and cook for another 2 minutes before adding in the cream. Stir through, then add the chicken back to the pan. Season to taste.
- Serve over a bed of mashed potatoes with chopped fresh parsley and your favourite side of veggies.
