One of the world’s leading sources of new business ideas, www.springwise.com, recently reviewed a brilliant new foodie site which has an especially clear premise that makes it stick out from all the others out there: 52 weeks, 52 recipe contests and a crowdsourced cookbook to celebrate the result.
Founded by friends and food writers Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs, food52 encourage home cooks to show us what they can do. Contestants have seven days to submit their favourite recipes for each week’s category. Amanda and Merrill will then pick two finalists in each category; testing them and photographing them. Then for 10 days the contest is opened up to voting, and the winning recipes and author bios will go into the food52 cookbook – which will be published by Harper Studio. The food52 community will choose the title, cover design and photos.
Now in its 14th week, the website and contest is becoming ever so popular and we understand why. Go and see for yourself!
