Variations & Substitutions
One of the best things about these Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps is how flexible they are! Here are a few easy ways to switch things up depending on what you have on hand:
Swap out the fried chicken fillets for one of these:
- Rotisserie chicken: Great time-saver! Just shred it and skip the frying step.
- Tofu or chickpeas: For a vegetarian version, pan-fry tofu strips or roast some chickpeas with the same spices.
- Beef strips: Both work beautifully with the honey mustard dressing for something a little different.
Veggie Add-Ins:
- Add in roasted veggies or even caramelized onion!!
- Swap the carrots for grated beetroot or shredded cabbage for a fun color boost.
- A handful of microgreens wouldn’t hurt either!
Dressing Variations:
- Make it creamier with more mayo or tangier with extra vinegar.
- No Greek yoghurt? Use sour cream or even just stick with mayo and mustard.
- Don’t have Dijon? Wholegrain mustard or English mustard can work too—just adjust the quantity to taste.
Nut & Seed Ideas:
- If you don’t have sunflower seeds, try toasted sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, or even chopped almonds or cashews for crunch.

These Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps are quick, easy to assemble and delicious to eat, making them the perfect weeknight family meal. Chicken is fried with herbs and spices, bundled up with crunchy veggies, drizzled with honey mustard dressing and then rolled into a wrap and toasted.
Ingredients
- 4–5 large wraps (tortillas)
- 4 chicken breasts, sliced into strips (500-600g)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- freshly cracked black pepper
- 3 cups lettuce / leafy greens
- 3 grated carrots
- 1/3 cup sunflower seeds, toasted (see note)
- Honey Mustard Dressing
- 1/3 cup Greek yoghurt
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 ½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 teaspoon chilli flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the dressing: whisk all the ingredients together until smooth. Adjust salt and pepper to your preference.
- Prepare the salad filling: Add chopped lettuce, grated carrots and toasted sunflower seeds to a bowl and mix to combine.
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the chicken and paprika and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the lemon juice as well as salt and freshly cracked black pepper and cook until the chicken is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
- Assemble: Spread a tablespoon or so of Honey Mustard dressing on the tortilla/ wrap, then add 6-8 strips of chicken. Add a liberal layer of salad on top of that and then dress with another helping o dressing. Yum!!
- Fold the short edges of the wrap first then the longer edges. Eat as is or toast the wraps! In a pan over medium heat, place half a teaspoon of butter or oil and place the wrap in the pan and heat until browned. Repeat on the other side until browned.
Notes
- To toast sunflower seeds, simply add them to a pan and turn the heat to medium. Brown them for 2-3 minutes. They brown quickly so keep an eye on them! You can use a splash of olive oil in the pan if you like but they brown equally well without oil.
- This recipe represents a very simplified version of Honey Mustard Chicken Wraps. You can jazz them up with mature cheddar, strips of crispy bacon, extra veggies and even pickles!
