We have just added a brand new South African blog to our Food & Wine Blog Directory called Koek!
Robyn MacLarty is a journalist living in Cape Town and says: “cooking is what gives me joy – and, as much as I like to prepare and eat good food, I take inexplicable delight in documenting it as well. My blog is a record of recipes, cooking, thoughts on food and food literature.”
We’ve asked Robyn a couple of questions related to cooking and her blog:
Q: What 3 ingredients do you use the most?
A: Butter, irreverence, more butter.
Q: Do you create your own recipes, or do you use recipes in magazines and books?
A: Both – though when I use recipes from books or mags I generally just use them as inspiration for banging together whatever I’ve got in my fridge.
Q: What inspired you to start a food blog?
A: Orangette. I never thought I’d be a blogger, but I started one just for kicks after encountering Orangette, and now I’m addicted. It’s even lead to me doing a food shoot for Psychologies – the magazine I work for as a copy editor.
Q: Which are the 3 recipes you love the most on your website?
A: Tocco di Noci, Ribollita and Crunchy Prawn Skewers with Lemony Avocado Dip.
Q: What do you find the most challenging thing about food blogging?
A: Finding the time to post regularly is quite challenging. I’m planning on investing in a decent camera soon, which will help. Though because I do most of my most creative cooking in the evenings, the lighting’s never very flattering to my food!

Well said, my friend! I also do most of the cooking in the evening & the light isn’t that good, hey?
Lovely to know more about you!
